Lone Pine Brewing Company IPA - Triple
Sharp and boozy pineapple feel and taste hits hard. Wow, this one is high heat boozy. 10.31%abv is pretty high, but dang! it's like a Vodka shot with pineapple and citrus added. A grainy, earthy hop mix with a big saturation of tropical fruit tones.

The pour emptied the contents of a pint can. It came closer than expected to filling a clear glass liter mug. At first there was a just-off-white head, barely tinted with the color of the brew. It was overly generous and then it slowly expanded into an unruly mass of foam. As usually happens with modern American IPAs, it proceded to recede unevenly and unattractively. It did leave some glass lacing. Suspicions run highly that oats and wheat displaced some barley malt in this one's wort. The ale is dark apricot-amber and approaches murky with its dank opaqueness. The aroma is less than anticipated, another check for wheat and oats. There's some vague sweetness, likely the starches and alcohol, maybe with a little citrus fruit reminders. The mouthfeel is soft and decent enough, another check for oats. But, there's very little taste to the starchy backbone, just a pleasant dose of sweetness. The hopping tastes better than it smelled, but it's no doubt aided by an alcoholic bite. The hops run citrusy and add some piney notes, too. The glass lacing remains fairly consistently, especially considering the ABV. The alcohol is noticed, but it's not detrimental, although it does approach that level. Most surprising is the lack of full-flavored or complex hops flavors, anticipated by the inclusion of lupulin. Maybe, unlike some that overuse it, here it's tastefully done. Overall, this is a mediocre heavy hitter, a soft and mildly bitter way to ingest a beer with a substantial ABV.

Canned on: 9-8-23
A - Opaque dark orange with dense frothy white lacing.
S - Spicy citrus, tropical fruit, and grapefruit rind.
T - Spicy tropical fruit and citrus from start to finish along with spicy grapefruit rind. Starts sweet and ends more on the bitter side with nice lingering bitter fruit rind.
M - Big viscous body with warming in the back of the throat and coats the mouth with a healthy layer of hops the creates a cotton-like sensation on the palate.
O - This beer builds some serious momentum and trashes your palate. Tipping my glass to Lone Pine, dig it!

Picked-up a four-pack of cans recently at Bradford's in Plymouth for about eighteen dollars. My ninth brew from these. Canned on date of 9/8/23. Solid brew, not too boozy.
