A one-off, cask-conditioned version of their porter, straight from the cask in their taproom.
Appearance: Coppery-brown. Slightly hazy. About an inch of slightly colored foam settled to a thin layer on top. Some lacing down the glass.
Smell: Predominant smell of toffee, with some chocolate malt, and licorice. Bready yeast aroma with some fruity esters.
Taste: Caramel and toffee, with a bit of chocolate in support. Fairly balanced hop bittering, with some hop flavor, but no particular characteristic. Somewhat short aftertaste.
Mouthfeel: Light-bodied and somewhat creamy.
Overall: This beer was well-made, fresh and enjoyable, but it's not quite what I look for in a porter. This seemed to be somewhere between a nut brown and a porter, style-wise. Could use more chocolate malt, and more body.
