Purchased at Aldi, Budapest. It's almost impossible to get decent Austrian beers here, despite being neighbors, so this is a godsend.

Used to be brewed by TIGAST (Egger brewery), now brewed by Perfect Drinks (Ottakringer brewery). Way nicer now, basically Ottakringer Marzen.

Proper solid Austrian light beer, really drinkable. Amazing value at 300ft (£0.60) a can.

This beer deserves a better score. I had this earlier, years ago when I had not yet enough money to spend on craft beer or on beers in variety and this beer from Hofer/Aldi was quite a pleasure to drink for just 55 cents.
Now after many years I had the same feeling. It is like an adjunct, without any bitterness and as a märzen it has some dense German (?) or at least definitely some European hop intensity, almost like a pilsner. Add some carbonation and the rest is history - an easy to drink beer, with no real character but with nothing against it either.
For such a price you couldn't get anything better than this.

.5L emptied into a Pokal.

A: Pours yellow-gold with a fluffy 2-finger white head which receeds to a thick ring. Some lacing in the upper third of the glass.

S: Bready malt, mild hops, yeast.

M: Light bodied with mediocre carbonation.

T: Sweet malt with a touch of hops, grainy. Caramel, toffee sweetness through the midrange. Dry finish with a lingering sour aftertaste.

D: Drinkable. Brewed by Egger for the Aldi/Hofer supermarket chain. Budget beer, not terrible, but certainly not worth the effort.

I got two cans of this beer from a friend - i guess he bought it at a supermarket in Austria.

A: This beer pours strawcoloured with a large white head with a bit to big bubbles. It dissipates quickly.

S: Malt (just like this style demands), citrus and faint hops gives this beer a very refreshing smell.

T: Fruit - both citrus and red apples. Then there is floral hops combinend with the malt (which is a bit weak balanced).

M: A bit rough, a bit thin with nice carbonic acids. It fades quickly.

D: This is a refreshing "summerbeer".
