Poured from 500mL can into a kitchen glass. Best by 6/11/25. I believe this is brewed especially for sale at Aldi.
Appearance: light golden hue with a totally clear body, a strong effervescence, and a thick cap of ivory foam. I would say that the head disappears pretty darn quickly, but otherwise, not bad looking at all.
Smell: kind of a bland, watery malt aroma, somewhat marred by a bit of a plastic-y adjunct smell. It’s, uh, not great.
Taste: at first sip I thought the flavor was going to be better than the aroma, but as it developed, it just got worse. Not the grossest beer, but not much to recommend it — bland malt with a kinda plasticy grossness.
Mouthfeel: medium-light body with a strong carbonation and a decent texture.
Overall: I’m not gonna finish this beer, but I will say I have had a lot worse in my time on this planet.

This must have come out just now in Aldi because I’ve never seen it before. This kind of beer, schankbier usually stands for cheap (and let’s admit, not always that high quality) beer although the name stands for “draft beer” - very interesting that they do the same in Japan…
Anyhow, it is really like a light and uninteresting beer, more bitterness, less fun but even this is better than the average beer in the neighboring Hungary for instance.
So my two cents: cheap beers are okay at Aldi. Actually, cheap beers are AOK in all Austria.
