August 6th, 2015 - Holy the Voyd's Coffee Stout starts with a predictably strong foot forward, leaning into that coffee breakfast aroma, and that's effectively all. Not much subtlety here, and maybe that's on the beans. The flavor also has an immense coffee note and a thinner body. The foretaste is weaker than the aftertaste, and has a clumsy, sludgy Foler's coffee flavor that reminds me of bad conference coffee. The nitro version brings a little more espresso color, which helps to mask the bad coffee flavor, but not by much. The flatter palate re-reveals those less-than-desirable flavors.
