Spiced bread is the theme song of this classy dubbel. It’s a treat and one of the top dubbels in the beer-loving San Diego beerconomy. It’s beautiful, smells right and tastes for days... let it linger for a full 20 seconds before even allowing another thought to contaminate your mind.

my first beer from these guys, a really basic but tasty little dubbel here, a bit paler in color than i am used to in the style, but really well refined, more drinkable than most, and it warms up really well as i let it sit in the glass. light tan amber color, good clarity, and a nice head that slowly fades, no sediment here at all, and quite a lot of carbonation. smells awesome, slight rum and fig notes to it, a brown sugar and maple sweetness, long cooked concentrated malt sugar, and a mellow belgian yeast strain that appears to have been relatively thorough in the fermentation but imparting a little less of the usual esters and spice than i have come to expect in the style. the flavor is a lot like the nose, a honey element here, only a moderate body for the style, but nice linger with the yeast coming out more and more at the end, and a nice autumnal and wintery dried fruit complexion, dates and apples and things like that, nice with the yeast. a little less complex and deep than a lot of these are, but i think a very nice take on the style. i will look for more from these guys, high brewer competence is on display here for sure!
