4 oz (generous) pour at the taproom in El Cajon. This was second place in 2020 Triple IPA Throwdown at Hamilton’s Tavern in San Diego.
Deep slightly hazy golden orange colour with just slightly off white head.
Aroma hits with a hop punch - pine, citrus, caramel malt, just a bit of dankness.
Wonderful explosion of piney hops on the palate, some sweet grapefruit, mango, and some caramel malt sweetness. As it warmed there is an increasing dankness - the bitterness is beautifully in balance with the sweetness.
Full mouthfeel with nice carbonation. There is some booziness but the 10+ % ABV is nicely blended into this phenomenal beer making it very drinkable. If you can’t get the Younger this is a good substitute (maybe better).
