16oz can
Pours two fingers of white head into a stemless wine glass. Retention is a little above average, and a small layer of head remains after a few minutes. Lacing is pretty solid. Body is golden, slightly darker than I would think; a little bit cloudy which is also somewhat odd. Looks nice.
Nose has a touch of sweetness, some lemony hops. Very light, definitely to the level of rice, but this is more akin to an American Lager, it lacks the hop profile of a Japanese Rice Lager.
Flavor is very interesting. This has a massive floral presence, almost reminiscent of Sake. Still, it’s not a hoppy floral, and I question the hop level for the style. Though I find myself caring less given the massive character it provides. Overall the flavor is simple and mostly light, but assertive within that confine.
Body is on the lighter side, with a medium carbonation; however the carbonation is soft, the body a little rough, and there isn’t the crisp clean nature that I would want from the style. Somewhat dry, especially in the finish. Not really any sweetness, but the massive floral presence definitely adds a perceived sweetness. Overall ok, but I would appreciate something more wet, refreshing, and clean.
Drinkability is perfectly fine.
Overall a solid flavor that really accentuates the floral aspects of the style. A cleaner body would really go a long way in rounding things out here.
