a particularly well done wet hopped ipa, especially if you like them a little more classically balanced. for me, this was just a touch overly malty, not that it isnt fully hop driven or anything, but there is a bit of a crystal malt thing going on and some slight sweetness with it that i think can block out some of the delicate aspects of the fresh hops, but this is really good overall. short of amber but with a nice orange color to it, slight haze. a nice vegetal fresh hop aroma, not so fruit driven like some of the heavy dry hopped ones can be, more of a late kettle freshness, some oils are evident, some citrus, and some bitterness, which i like and is often absent in fresh hopped beers. the flavor features a little more of the malt than a lot of these do, more of an old school balance to this, but still very obviously made with wet hops, a faint green pepper vegetal aspect, but bright lemon and orange and lemongrass too, west coasty and oily, even rich at times, but bitter and no so grainy to finish. a tad under carbonated but i like the mouthfeel with the fresh hops contributing so much. well made beer overall, a sort of safe tasting recipe, but excellent execution. no clue as to the specific hops, too much of a well rounded whole to bother dissecting in that way, just take it in and enjoy!

Had on tap at the brewpub.
This was a specially-brewed version of their Clark, a Northeast IPA, brewed and infused with fresh hops. Clear beer with a nice golden color; low head (a trend for all their beers when I visited). Great tropical fruit and low spice nose. Similar flavors with peppery spice taking a bigger role in the flavors than it did in the aromas. Light body and low carbonation. Strong hops bitterness but not out of control. AN enjoyable and fresh NE IPA.
