For a brewery I have long been down on, this beer I think just won me over. Had it a couple times now to make sure my initial impression stands. All the same batch, so hopefully they are consistent in their brewing so it remains the beer I have tried these recent weeks. Pours black with a dark white head, that does not stick around, that does not stick to the sides of the glass. Aroma is roasty, coffee and chocolate, with a slight underlying earthy hoppiness. Flavor is is similar, starts of roasty with coffee and chocolate and closing out with some earthy hops to nicely close things out. A creamy, soft, medium bodied mouthfeel, really nicely done. Overall, this is just how I enjoy my stouts. I tend to prefer lower abv stouts (and porters) when done right, and this fits that bill. Probably my favorite stout that is not Marble's Oatmeal Stout that I have tried in Albuquerque. Will continue to drink as long as they can maintain this quality from batch to batch.
