8oz glass at Beer Revolution YEG Oliver Square - don't quite understand how a brewery's IPA is lower in ABV than their pale ale.

This beer appears a slightly hazy, pale golden yellow colour, with one finger of puffy, loosely foamy, and somewhat bubbly off-white head, which leaves some defrosting back windshield pattern lace around the glass as it slowly sinks out of sight.

It smells of bready and doughy cereal malt, some orange, white grapefruit, and lemon citrus rind, a damp minerality, and more leafy, weedy, and floral green hop bitters. The taste is gritty and grainy pale malt, muddled domestic citrus rind, saltine crackers, and more earthy, weedy, and piney verdant hoppiness.

The carbonation is fairly low-key in its innocuous frothiness, the body a so-so medium weight, and generally smooth, with nothing really causing any sort of ruckus at this particular juncture. It finishes off-dry, barely, as the hops start to finish off the lingering malt.

Overall - this is certainly a straight-up west coast version of the style, and simple in its disposition. Easy to put back on a thankfully less smokey lazy Sunday afternoon up here in ol' E-town.
