Poured into a thistle, the appearance was a ruddy dark amber almost brown sort of color with a little white foamy head that dissipated at a mild pace. Light messy lace. The aroma had some sweet herbal tones covering some butterscotch, caramel and toffee malts. Subtle nuts with a touch of smoke to ash and then some peat. The flavor leads with a herbal to smoky blend and then the malts. Peat kicks back a bit more to take a nap among my tastebuds. Mild malty edged smokiness in the aftertaste guiding on into the finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. Decent carbonation. ABV felt spot on as to what the brewer projected. Overall, nicely done scotch ale worthy of having again if I could find it.
