gorgeous beer here, served on nitro. assuming its 5% abv now instead of 4%, as the laws now permit and just about all the draft beer i have seen have ramped up to this new threshold, and i think all their drafts were. this is irish stout-esque, but done with belgian yeast, subtle as it is, and with some locally roasted coffee in it, truly exceptional beer, my favorite i had while i was in yesterday for sure, although i like all the beer these guys make, way ahead of the local curve it seems. deep brown in color, super creamy thick tan nitro head with exceptional retention, this method just makes the beer so smooth, its literally insane. the texture is world class. the coffee is rich in here, seems to carry a little sweetness with it, hints of licorice and dark chocolate are here too, dark chocolate espresso beans, ashy dark roast, light bitterness, a suggestion of root beer too. there is cool layering to this, i like the yeast profile, not super belgian to me, but lots of flavor to it, and the boldness of the coffee with the nitro make this amazing. weird complexity like hazelnut and black tea come up too a little bit, just really dynamic and good. i would drink this all the time if i lived here...
