a lightly hazy low alcohol ipa with orange citrus, mandarin i believe, easy drinking, not over flavored but also somewhat light on the hops in a way, in many respects like a pale ale, but modern and light on the grain side, dry hoppy with varietals that compliment the orange element, and that aspect seems fresh and real, clementine, tangerine, navel orange, all of that to me, bright and springy, nice in the dead of winter here still, gives me hope somehow. blonde toned, mid haze on it at the most, decent white head from the tap, well short of murky and dense. the aroma on this is sunny and summery, seems even like high vitamin c to me without being all fruit, the hops bring complimentary melon, lemon, and even yellow peach to me, some white wheat malt underneath i reckon, cleanly fermented for sure, less sweet to me than i think i thought it would be, simple overall in a good way. the flavor follows, bright orange through much of it but not quite getting to that essential oil peel intensity at any point, late climax but right there with the hops in the same moment, subtle pineapple casting a bit of a tropical vibe, and more of that as it warms, light on the grain side as the hazy ones go, less oat body and creaminess and protein and all of that, hard to pack that in with the utah alcohol limitations i suppose, but its not thin either, and i like the held back bitterness, keeps this drinkable and mass appeal. the fruit seems authentic, the hops support it well, and its subtle in the right places. quite a few new to me and rather ambitious beers from proper around town on this recent visit, great to see them pushing!
