Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a light to medium golden amber with a one finger white head with good retention and nice lacing. Aroma of lightly grainy biscuit malt, citrus hops, lemon, dried hay with light florals. Flavor is neutral pilsner style malt, wheat, lemon and grapefruit. Finish is lemon and grapefruit rind with light floral notes and a hint of clove. Light to medium bodied with sharp, peppery carbonation. A nice hybrid of a wit style wheat beer and IPA. The base malt is mild, allowing the wheat flavors to surface. The hop bill is interesting, although dominated by citrus flavors, there is also floral character. This is well hopped and the finish seems a bit more bitter than expected, probably because wheat does not seem to support hop alpha oils as well. However, the whole beer comes together very nicely with both light pilsner stype malt and wheat components clear in the tastes. The citrus hops give a little lemon tartness to the finish, which is reminiscent of witbiers. I usually like a more robust malt flavor to my strong IPAs, but this one tasted really fine and a good example of the combination of styles. A hybrid IPA that is greater than the sum of its components.
