Villacher Bier

While taking a train from Venice, Italy to Ljubljana, Slovenia, we had a four hour wait in the train station in Villach, Austria. We decided to take our luggage for a walk and head into town. Not even 5 minutes from the station, we run into the Villacher Brauhof and Biergarten. What a way to kill four hours instead of sitting in a train station. There is a nice sized restaurant up front, with a spacious covered beer garden in the back. The brewery itself looms behind this building. Grabbed a nice picnic table in the garden and ordered some beers. We tried the hausbier which was very good. I then had a zwickl bier, and my wife tried a hefe from a guest brewery. Both were nice. Food was kinda funny though. I had some really nice smoked pork raviolis, while my wife ordered the wrong thing and ended up with a bologna salad. Funny. Serve was pretty good, even though no one really spoke English, hence the incorrect food and German menus. But if you are ever in Villach, it's close to the train station and a fun place to sit and have beers.
