Copenhagen 26/5 2019. 44 cl can from Kihoskh, Sønder Boulevard, Kbh. V. The can looks like the cover of a a techno album from the nineties with some sharp dark objects on a green-blue background. Underworld would like this.

Pours hazy, milky dirty yellow with a medium-sized white head. Settles as patchy thin layer of foam unable to cover the surface of the beer. Moderate lacing.

Aroma is moderately strong but pleasant. Light odor of melon, peach and pear. Stronger odor of citrus, tangerine and orange.

Light carbonation. Slightly thick, soft, lightly prickling texture.

Flavor is medium sweet followed by a stronger citric bitterness- Aftertaste is bitter and lightly acidic. Lingers for a while.

Pleasant and well balanced for the style. Does not go to extremes.

330 ml can, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 6.9%. Cloudy yellow colour, small white head. Pleasant aroma of citrus, tropical fruits and sprucetips. Citric flavour, hints of tropical fruits, with a moderate bitterness in the finish, becomes distinct and resinous in the aftertaste. The alcohol is noticeable.

330ml can.
L: Freshly squeezed orange juice with a thick, long-lasting, soapy head that leaves arcs of lacing.
S: Acidic tropical fruit juice.
T: Massive hit of juicy citrus & tropical fruit with a bitter, resinous backbone. A wonderful overload of malt & hops. Rich vintage marmalade aftertaste.
F: Medium body with a nicely oily mouthfeel. Semi-sweet with a dry (but not arid) finish.
O: New England IPA meets West Coast IPA from Leeds, West Yorkshire. A glorious, fruit-filled, hop fest. Refreshing in the summer, warming in the winter. Gets better every time I try it.

CAN
Hazy tawny blonde with speckles and a puffy ivory can pour head. 4
Big tangerine with grass, mango, + peach. 4.25
Cream of wheat, then tangelo, limoncello, pineapple and papaya. A weird little suggestion of vanilla comes out as it goes. 4
Ringing lemon zest linger.
Soft, almost medium, oily. 4

This beer has an identity (or at least branding) crisis - nose, body, fruit and look are all trending New England, not “West Coast”. It’s just the dry finish and slight bitter edge that make this what the can says. Still, super drinkable, soft fruits, bit o’ scratch at the end - a notch above the bandwagon. 4

Pours clear amber into a glass from a bottle. Off white head is foamy, slightly sparse, which leaves sudsy lacing.

Aroma is very sweet and tropical; mango, passionfruit, grapefruit, a little lemon, resiny pine and fresh hops on the back end. There is the smallest hint of light malts with some caramel notes underneath it all.

The flavour follows on surprisingly well for the aroma, which doesn't usually happen. Things start off sweet and fresh like squeezed grapefruit and passionfruit juice with an aromatic floral and grassy hop character. The freshness complements the sweetness very nicely, neither taking centre stage. There is a character almost like lime involved amongst the grassiness, along with more pine, light biscuit, and good hop bitterness; a tad rough but still nice.

Mouthfeel is zingy, with good levels of carbonation, which falls away on the swallow. Light-medium bodied, slight oilyness, and very well hidden 6.9% ABV. Great feel.

This is fantastic, great balance between the fresh, sweet, malt and hop profiles. Very aromatic, thirst quenching IPA with sippable quality.
