Pours a slighty cloudy, deep golden coloration with a medium, fluffy head. Smells of biscuity, slightly caramelly malt, citrus/tropical hop notes of grapefruit and pineapple, as well as just a hint of pine. Taste is a decent balance of biscuity, slightly caramelly malt and citrus/tropical hop notes of grapefruit, tangerine and pineapple, as well as just a hint of pine. Finishes with a medium/strong bitterness and some citrus/tropical notes and light pine lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.
Not sure what to make of this as a WCIPA. While it does have a rather nice bittnerness to it, it's still somewhat lacking in those resinous pine notes, despite allegedly being "all about the piney bitterness" according to the brewer. There's some light pine coming through in the aftertaste here, but it feels a little soapy, while the focus is clearly on the grapefruit and pineapple here, with the pineapple standing out particularly. Not sure how you can manage to brew a beer with Mosaic, Simcoe and Chinook that has this little pine resin to it, but somehow they pulled it it off...
