Fresh, bright and clean. Words you might not normally associate with a barley wine, but here we are. This is our collaboration with Good Things Brewing. A 10% Barley Wine that has really sent waves through the brewery. Made using Golden Promise, Cheveallier and Red Crystal malts as well as English Bullion hops, it’s a beer that keeps on giving. The backbone of this beer is its malts, they provide deep vanilla, bruised apple, warming spice, maple syrup flavours and a stunning clear mahogany colour. Whole leaf Bullion hops counter with fresh bitterness and juicy blackcurrant to finish. It’s an absolute delight to drink and we really cannot wait for you to try it!

#1716 - Blind-tasted except for the beer's name and brewery/country, zero reviews below read (yet!)...
L- Mid chestnut-red. Pours almost clear, just a tint hint of sediment. 1cm just off-white head.
S- Some richness, a hint of the spiced apple you find in apple crumble (Brit dessert).
T- Some sweet notes, off into some pungent complexity with twists of liquor-ish note combing with some hoppy bitterness entertaining the palate.
F- It's 'thick', you sense immediately it's high ABV% and presumably high 'sugars' content too, it has a viscosity to it. For me it's a slow-sipping beer, too full-on to rush.
O- It's pretty full-on and won't be for everyone. I can't rush this it's just to intense, so I'm glad I started it well chilled, as when it warms it risks the sweet aspect rapidly growing. In fact this would be an ideal new find to share 50/50 with a friend. It's something I can enjoy in small quantities and chilled. The sweet note is building as it warms - and I do not like outright sweet. Enjoyable and interesting to try, but it's firmly too far across the 'Rich Sweet' line for me to hugely enjoy or buy again.
440ml can BB: 19/02/2023 £5.85 Bought from TremblingMadness, York/UK as part of a large pick-your own consignment to London.

440ml can.
L: Light haze, mahogany colour, a solid head and many arcs and rings of lacing. Stunning.
S: Rich, sweet and fruity.
T&F: Incredibly rich and decadent. Black cherry, a whole lot of marmalade, caster sugar and a hefty dose of alcohol. Mouthfeel is smooth and oily.
O: An awesome barley wine. Delicious, easy to drink and dangerous as heck.
