Made in collaboration with Manchester’s Cloudwater Brew Co, we’ve blended two styles of beer that we find are some of the most refreshing.

West Coast meet German Pils.

A classic German Pilsner grist made up of pils malt, Haná and Chit makes for a delightfully light, crisp and sparkling base that thrives with a light dusting of Idaho 7 and Simcoe hops in the whirlpool. We fermented nice and slow with our house lager yeast, allowing each aspect of the beer to stand alone and shine.

The result is a fresh and instantly refreshing West Coast Pils. Crisp, bready and herbaceous but countered with subtle classic west coast attributes; bitterness, fresh hops, pine and tropical fruit.

Pours a fairly clear yellow with soapy head.

Smell is fruity, crackery and floral with notes of grapes, citrus and wheat dough.

Taste is fruity, crackery, clean and crisp. Notes of knäckebröd, rye, citrus, grapes, gooseberries and pine with some floral hints. Solid bitterness and a very dry finish.

Mouthfeel is medium, soft and pillowy with good carbonation.

Overall, a very succesful hybrid, that doesn't fit in at all as a German pilsner.

440ml can.
L: Hazy gold with one finger of bright white head that leaves a smear and rings of lacin g.
S: Clean but faint aroma of lemon.
T: Lemon rind, citrus & hay. Leafy, dry & hoppy.
F: Medium/light body with very little carbonation and a super dry finish.
O: Neither a great pilsner, nor a great west coast IPA. Not quite refreshing enough, not quite piney enough and mouthfeel is lifeless. Disappointing, particularly at nearly £4 a can from the brewery online shop.
