Copenhagen 26/10 2022. 40 cl from tap at Taphouse, Lavendelstræde, Kbh. K. As "North Brewing Co x Varvar Barrel Aged Smoked Stout".
Pours opaque dark brown with a small light beige head. Settles as thin rim of foam running along the side of the glass. Moderate lacing.
Aroma is fairly intense with a dark sweet odor mingling with a dark alcohol and boozy wood. Brown sugar and toffee. Whiff of whiskey. Peat and a bit of salt. Light scent of smoke.
Light carbonation. Rather thick, oily, soft, smooth, lightly tingling texture.
Flavor is intense with a medium strong sweetness followed by a slightly stronger bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter and a little unforgiving. Lingers for a while. Finish is rather dry.
Potent and powerful with a prominent whiskey presence.
