I had this in a 10 minute break, at the brewery. I guess i would give it another go, but for now... here goes.
Got a 0.4 l pint glass. The appearance is absolutely incredible. Very dark with a smooth, almost out of control creamy lacing that never goes away.
The smell got some quick roasted malt, maybe toffee/caramel and cocoa beans. Coffee? I don't know. Might just be there.
I thought that the taste would be invaded by malty flavors. Well, no. The hops are so present, that for a second i forgot about everything else. Of course you get coffee in the taste. And the dark, rich, dark malt. Light presence of dried plums and caramel. It's a hard, convincing taste, that made me cry out for more.
Even though it's a tough beer, goes around easily. The alcohol is there just for support. Light carbonation. Creamy mouthfeel.
I guess this has to be one of the best stouts i've had. I'm pretty sure that the tap has a lot to do with it.
If you can find a place at the brewery, enjoy this one.
