The winner of a local brewing contest was given a chance to brew a batch of this stuff at 1516. It is fantastic! It features Pilsner, Vienna and Munich malts along with Hallertau, Nelson Savvin and Amarillo Hops. The beer comes out a clear solid gold under a one finger slightly off-white head that lingers long and generates spectacular sheets of lace. The nose is sweet and slightly fruity, with a good dose of grain. The mouth is fairly heavy and mildly carbonated. The taste buds are treated to a smooth, mildly sweet opening dominated by grain. A very nice bitter backbone provides just the right balance to the malt, making for a mouthwatering, please-may-I-have-another experience. This is an excellent gateway beer. I hope the good folks at 1516 find a way to bring this one into the regular line-up, as it is much better than their standard lager and should please all palates (although, admittedly, Globetrotterette was not so impressed).

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
