Everyone has one. Maybe it's not a sweater like Kurt wore on MTV. Maybe it's a shirt, jacket, shoes or hat. But any way you stitch it, we could all do with a piece of comfortable attire. Our Kardigan has been tailored to be that bit of comfort. A little malty, a little nutty, with a touch of sweet honey, this altbier is familiar, friendly and, enjoyable any time of the year.

Pours a hazy rich brown color with a substantial tan head that tracks down the glass as you enjoy the beer.

The nose is malty and nutty as advertised on the can, and those aromas cross directly to the taste, but the star is the honey flavor, which is the perfect complement to the malty flavors. Really well executed by Alementary, IMHO.

Decanted from a 12 oz (355 ml) can into a muffin top, custom taster pint; no production information on can.
A: Pours a hazy, brown color with orange-ochre highlights, a brief lived, less than half finger, off-white head, no more than a rim retention and spotty lacing at best.
S: Aromas are inviting and include caramel, mocha, honey, and toffee. Maybe a touch nutty (walnut, macadamia).
T: Especially in light of the nose, surprisingly dry: at least semidry overall. Aroma characteristics present, but a bit overwhelmed by peppery bitterness.
M: Light to medium bodied with fairly low carbonation.
O: Obviously, it's a bit hard to judge based on an undated can. Really like the style and aromas. Bittering a bit out of line with my past experiences with Altbiers and not necessarily in a positive way. Should this be brewed again, in my humble opinion with less and later hops.

Growler from Joe Canal’s. Pours dark amber with tall, long-lasting, foamy, off-white head. Aroma is of caramel malt, red fruit and herbal hops. Body is medium and crisp. Taste is similar to aroma. Finish is long and dry. Good brew.
