Tropical Shore Day

On draught at Capital Craft. Served in a pint glass. It pours a slightly hazy golden amber but without much head or lacing. The smell is rather subdued with sweet malt, and flora notes from the hibiscus. I was pleasantly surprised by the taste: it reminds me of a cross between a Kolsch and a Saison. The passion fruit provides a fruity sweetness similar to the banana in a Saison and the hibiscus offers and interesting and pleasing flavor. It's a refreshing beer that works well in the summer. At 5.5% ABV it's an easy drinker. I find Alementary's offerings to be hit or miss. Tropical Shore Day is a good idea which, with a little fine tuning, could be a very nice Kolsch.
