A: murky dark yellow color with some wet hay color. 1/2 finger off-white head

S: grass, sweet grains, grapefruit, pineapple and huge dough

T: sweet grains, biscuits, strawberry, grass, pine, and lemongrass with a hint of lager spice

M: heavier side of medium with a sticky sweetness

O: not a traditional tasting pilsner by any means. Heavy and sweet with some tropical notes. Definitely an Imperial, but not that refreshing.

16 oz can poured into an imperial can-shaped glass.

Appearance
Gold. 1+ finger of creamy white head. Heavy haze.

Nose
Citrus, floral, pine, Pilsner malt, and cinnamon.

Taste
Lemon and grapefruit citrus. Floral, piney, and earthy. Thick Pilsner malt with a cinnamon alcohol presence.

Mouthfeel
Medium bodied, slick, bitter, and dry.

Overall
The booziness has a cinnamon quality that shouldn’t be present. I'm still very happy to see an Imperial Pilsner again.

Canned on 1/30/2020. Poured into a pint glass. It pours a cloudy, golden-amber with a large, fluffy, bright white head and thick, clinging lacing. On the nose there is sweet malt, cracker, lemon peel, lite citrus hops, and a whiff of spice. The taste is really unique: it opens with a rather heavy sweet malt, lemon, a hint of grapefruit, and a surprising dankness. It has some quality of a multigrain bagel. As the glass warms there is also a hint of berry, which I attribute to the Belma and Calysta hops. There is more hop bitterness than one would find in a typical pilsner, as well as more spice. The mouth feel is thick, dense, and heavy. It feels more like a big, dank, DIPA (Nimble Giant and Waldo's come to mind). It's moderately carbonated and the 8.3% ABV gives it lots of substance. Overall, Siamese Pachyderm is singular in taste and feel and very satisfying. It's big and bold enough to pair with a burger, cheese steak or barbeque but is equally appropriate for casual drinking. It's an excellent collaboration between Alementary and Twin Elephant. I hope they brew together again soon!
