Taking the tastebuds on quite the wild ride, the road trip that's lead by Bhramari and Rake Beer Project is a collaboration with all the twists and turns. Sour, stout, raspberry and chessecake are just a few of the inspired tastes that unfold with new surprises with each and every sip.
Very dark and burnish maroon and burgundy, Beta Rapture timidly releases a trickle of froth. While underwhelming to the eye, the scent is eye opening with a strong twinge of dark berry, coffee, candied aromas and notions of red wine and cider. Fruity sweet early on the palate, a taste of taffy, vanilla cream and light fruit glazes create a candied sweetness to highlight the berries to come.
And they come swiftly on the middle palate as a nearly jammy character of raspberries seem of blackberry, plum, black cherry, blackcurrant and prune. Not to be outdone, the more stout-like influences are toasty and off-roasty with suggestions of coffee, lightly burnt woods and a robust soilish character. Strikingly sour with green apple, lime, lemon, gooseberry and red grape create a robust red wine taste late on the palate along with a peppery spice for added balance.
Medium bodied and peppery in its texture, Beta Rapture has a robust taste but a slightly lighter texture as the alcohol and acidity breaks down the malts and fuels a nearly refreshing session despite such bold and dark flavor and complexity. Finishing toasty, peppery and fruity, a medium length aftertaste is of slight jam and coffee with those red wine impressions extending shortly after.
