Bottle.
Roasted malts, light cocoa, caramel, and chocolate. Has an odd off flavor I can’t figure out. Grassy hops. A bit too much carbonation. It’s okay but I’ve had many better German dunkels.

Pours a dark brown amber color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity malty caramel and chocolate flavor and a slightly roasted malty caramel finish with a sweet, light roasted malt flavor. Smooth and well balanced, but not the most complex in flavor. Quite decent.

.5L emptied into a Pokal.
Note: This beer is quite similar to another Gösser product, Gösser Dark. Perhaps Stiftsbräu is only marketed under this name in the Austrian domestic market.
A: Pours a rich, dark brown with a 2-finger head which receeds to a thick ring. Nice lacing in the upper third of the glass.
S: Caramel malts and roasted coffee beans, a slight hint of chocolate.
M: Medium body, smooth, with good carbonation.
T: Toasted caramel malts with a mild midrange hoppiness. Faint sweetness throughout. Slightly dry aftertaste, reminiscent of coffee.
D: This is a nice beer, smooth and with a good balance. Not the best Dunkel out there, but I don't mind grabbing one of these from time to time.
