Look: Black-brown, opaque, fluffy tan head that takes a while to dissipate.
Smell: Baking chocolate, coffee, sugar, crisp hints of dark fruits
Taste: Rather bitter, kind of a grassy, weedy taste. Pretty similar to weak "church coffee," not getting much of the chocolate or fruits. The taste definitely does not live up to the scent.
Feel: Pretty normal carbonation, kind of a watery feel
Overall: This is certainly drinkable, one of the better beers I've had from this brewery (mostly due to the scent, it smells quite good), but as with their other products I've tried, the flavours just aren't there. It tastes watered down.

A- This pours a dark black-ish color and would seem to be basically clear but I detect a slight murkiness to the look. The head is caramel in color, starts out about one and a half fingers thick, and quickly fizzles out both in look and sound, into one large patch of thin wispy foam on top of the liquid. Im guessing the carbonation is fine and tight from how the ring of foam and the very edge of the glass is looking. Overall an unassuming Stout.
S- Overall this is muted, but what I do get is rather pleasant! Dark chocolate and cocoa dryness, unsweetened but creamed coffee, Earthy dry/dusty unmalted barley kernels, hints of licorice root, bready yeast/biscuit richness, caramel and/or toffee sweetness and on the finish, its a blend of lingering vanilla bean and mild dry hop bitterness.
T- Flavors are again muted throughout, but there is definitely some notes on the palate! Weak coffee, cocoa/dark chocolate bar, cereal grain sweetness, damp Earth/woodsy roots, dare I say slightly floral?......vanilla extract, some yeast, some creamer, and white bread softness. Theres nothing here that offends the ol' tastebuds, but it certainly does not stand out and make a statement!
M/O- Unfortunately, this is thin bodied for for a stout and seems like a beginners version into the style. Don't get me wrong here.....it would be rather drinkable because of how light in character it is, but Im looking to get something out of my Stouts and this really doesn't do it for me. I'd drink it again, but I certainly won't go out of my way for it again.....lower end of the middle on the broad scale. So far I'm getting a theme from this brewer :(

650ml bottle - apparently, this one's name stands for 'Black Hole Beer', because, um, well, I'm sure you get the picture.
This beer pours a very solid black, with the barest of basal red cola edges, and one finger of puffy, finely foamy, and somewhat bubbly dark beige (I know) head, which leaves some low-lying berm lace around the glass as it quickly sinks away.
It smells of semi-sweet chocolate, bready and doughy caramel malt, some real, if overly boozy vanilla, a hint of cafe-au-lait, some red berry-forward dark orchard fruitiness, a suggestion of untethered wet smoke, and very weak earthy and floral green hop bitters. The taste is gritty and grainy caramel malt, a bit of free-range char, understated bittersweet cocoa powder, hints of watery black licorice root, sort of stale cream, fading cheap vanilla, and more tame leafy and herbal hoppiness.
The carbonation is pretty middling in its hard to really love frothiness, the body a so-so medium weight, and sort of smooth, but sort of not (for no real reason), y'know? It finishes off-dry, the muddled toasty caramel and chocolate essences not seeming like they're interested in my lasting pleasure, as it were.
Yeah, another offering from this fledgling Lethbridge brewery that appears to barely have its feet off of the ground - sure, they've got some good Yankee stout metrics a' flowin' here, but the overall experience is one of earnest mediocrity. I mean no harm, but this outfit really needs to step things up if they intend to compete with the best of Alberta's nascent craft brewers.
