650ml bottle - so, by Fomenko's Chronology, it would mean that this raspberry sour ale happened much later than I believe that others just like it did?

This beer pours a hazy, medium salmon amber colour, with four fingers of puffy, chunky, and somewhat creamy off-white head, which leaves some randomly splattered lace around the glass as it slowly but surely subsides.

It smells of fresh raspberries, gritty and grainy pale malt, berry sugar, a hint of tart lemon juice, and ephemeral earthy and musty hop bitters. The taste is bready and doughy pale malt, a lesser caramel sweetness, mildly sour raspberry/cherry/lemon fruity notes, a hint of wayward son yeastiness, and more tame musty, leafy, and dead floral 'verdant' hoppiness.

The carbonation is adequate in its swirling and sometimes prickly frothiness, the body a decent middleweight, and fairly smooth, as the sourness is all fruity and thus all fine by me. It finishes trending dry, the fruit and malt balanced well enough by some lingering musty and earthy essences.

Overall, this is a pleasant rendering of the sour side of a common fruit ale, in that it keeps the fleshy nature of the fruit equation more or less intact, and therefore remains quite drinkable. Fairly refreshing, and worthy of checking out as a gateway version to the style.
