Long walk from the center of Brussels, but had to do it. This was a big disappointment for me. Selection was very poor compared to others in the area. The store was hot, unlike many of the others, so I wouldn't buy beer here anyway. Service was fine, but again selection wasn't there.

Nice little shop with sometimes varying selection. Food and bar towards the back with nice frites. Most of the stuff in the shop is available to drink on premise. The owner is usually quite friendly.

I went here mainly for the glassware. :P There is a lot though, and if you're a collector, you might not want to pass on this place. Lots of beer here too, and even though I'd consider myself an at least somewhat seasoned veteran of craft beer at this point well over a decade in the game, I'd say about a third of it was crazy obscure stuff that I'd never even heard of. Good thing or bad thing? You'd have to decide for yourself. I honestly didn't pay too much attention to the beer prices, as I didn't intend on buying anything other than glass (I was at capacity already).

There is a little bar to sit at in the back section, but as I just had my fill at Cantillon, I chose not to partake.

I think the owner was in the shop when I visited, or if it wasn't him, it was just a helpful friendly guy. He even called a cab for me when I was done browsing, without me even needing to ask.

If you can easily make your way to this place, I'd say it's worth checking out.

Reasonably small shop by Belgian standards with a bar and seating area at the back. Really seems like a tourist trap more than anything with high prices and a not overly inspiring selection. Some vintage beers on the shelf with ridiculous prices. Particularly disturbing that they’ve been kept in a cellar for many years and now are just left to soak up the daylight. Wouldn’t bother revisiting.

The walk was much longer than I anticipated, but I did get to see a part of the city which I wouldn't have thought that existed; its African neighborhood full of African restaurants and business. Eventually I did make it to Beer Mania with my recently purchased duffle bag to fill up on beer to bring home.

Two major aisles bring you through the high shelves stocked with beer. Across the checkout is an amazing display of Belgian glassware, including a special "teardrop" glass made specially for the store. All the beer is kept on the shelf (nothing refrigerated), but nothing dusty. There's a bar hidden behind a dog leg of a wall if you're curious to taste some beers while you shop. A few tables are layed in the that area just for that reason. There's even a small display of aged beer.

I got into a small conversation with the owner at checkout, and it showed me that he really loves beer. He's a homebrewer and even sells his beer in store. He's the third owner of this store, of what he said is the world's original beer specialty store, back in the early 80s. He's responsible for building the tasting bar. And he ships beer to the US, roughly €100 for up to 48 standard bottles, good to know should I have a major Belgian craving.

Quality store and worth the look.

I wandered in here from the nearby Delirium Café, looking for a few beers. I found, of course, one each of the Westvleteren. I bought them, got some local cheese, and some fresh bread, and headed back to my flat. Expensive, but also once-in-a-lifetime.

It might be a bit difficult to find, but it's worth it. Real spacious interior with a good selection of brews. Yes, they have "those" as noted previously. They also have the glasses if you so desire. I wouldn't say that I was completely floored by the selection here. They do have a good variety and several aged brews that you might be interested in. I think that having seen so many beers in so many beer stores, I've just become spoiled. But anyways. This was a nice visit. Nassir is very hospitable and an easy going dude.

Not far from the home of the European Union, Beer Mania is located in the Ixelles district of Brussels. Some reviewers have noted that it's in a sketchy part of town, but I found it a nice change of pace from the flashier parts of the city and never once felt unsafe.

As the name would imply, Beer Mania has an incredible selection of Belgian beers, and nothing but Belgians. Westvleteren 8, 10 and 12 were all in abundance, which is the main reason why we stopped in. Prices for Westy were higher than if you went directly to the Abbey, but I'm guessing most people coming to Belgium (like myself) don't have the time to do so and this is their best chance to acquire a few bottles.

Before you head out, take a look around the room at the international beer bottles resting on top of the shelves. It was fun seeing things from home that found their way over here. If I had known about this, I would've brought something with me from Seattle!

Customer service was not fantastic when we stopped in. I actually was ignored by the shop owner as he let two other people (who spent more than myself) cut in front of me to make their purchases. Even with that said, Beer Mania is worth visiting while in Brussels.

This shop is a little out of the way from other beer destinations in Brussels but looks worth the short diversion. A very good selection of bottles, and you can drink your purchases at the bar in back if you want.

The guy at the register was helpful but honestly I think I have deeper knowledge of Belgian beer than he does. He never heard of de Struise...

Excellent browsing for 15+ minutes. Prices looked on par with other shops. The most notable thing I found was Fantome Ete, 10 euros. I'd looked each time in Belgium and never found it before this day, so this was a good day. Afterwards I didn't see it anywhere else either.

Definitely worth a stop if only to window shop in comparison with Bier Tempel or Beer Planet.

The previous reviewer makes the location of this store, Ixelles, sound very dangerous. That claim is totally ridiculous. I'm a veteran traveler who knows Brussels well. I've spent over three months there on eight visits since 1998. Ixelles is not a "ghetto", although parts of it have many African immigrants. The area is full of young professional Belgians and is definitely multicultural, but not at all dangerous even at night. There are great cafes and restaurants throughout Ixelles. Don't hesitate to go there and spend the day exploring. Check out The Ultime Atome, one of my favorite Brussels cafes. It's just a few minutes walk from Beer Mania.

Came in here looking for a Westy Blonde, and I found it so I can't complain too much. They had 8-10 of each of the three westy beers so this is a good place to go if that's what you're looking for, the only other westy beer I found in Brussels was the 8 at De Bier Tempel.

They had all your standard Trappist and Belgian beers including vintages of Chimay Blue back to 1998 which is pretty impressive, although you'll pay around 23 Euro for a small bottle from '98. Speaking of price, the westys are all 16 euro which is much cheaper than buying them online in the US but considering how cheap they are at the brewery it's a really huge markup. I paid it because I didn't know when I'd be able to get another westy blonde. I'd say look at De Bier Tempel first because their 8 was only 8 or 9 euro.

The location of this shop is horrible and nobody else has mentioned it. I traveled all over Europe for a month by myself, I'd be out walking the streets alone at 3 or 4 am, but the only time I was at all scared was walking to this store. It's in the ghetto and there are tons of sketchy people in the area so I'd say drive or bike if you can, otherwise just book it through the area.

A- Didn't go here to drink on premesis (although we did consume a Mea Culpa while there). Rather, we came to purchase "souveniers". For this purpose, the atmosphere was adequate.

Q- Quality was top-notch. Nothing but artisanal beer here. Just wonderful. The glassware, particularly the signature Mea Culpa glass, was top quality as well.

Service- If you approach an attendant here, you will get decent service, but they don't seem to go out of their way to say 'hello' or see if you need assistance.

Selection- I was very tempted to give this a '5' in the Selection department because some very rare gems were available for sale here:

Goudenband from the ORIGINAL brewery
Jan van Gent
Various Fantomes
All varieties of Wesvleteren

Despite these very rare beers, the selection was otherwise small compared to other bottleshops in Brussels. Furthermore, the beer was quite expensive. 8Euro for a 750ml of Goudenband and 16Euro for a bottle of Westy 12!!!!

Definitely worth going back for treasure hunting.

Was in the Beermania shop some time ago. The shop looks nice, spacey and clean. Not as crowded as the shops in Brussels center. The selection is nothing special for a Dutch guy. Almost everything that he has, we can also buy in the Dutch liquor shops. There were a few exceptions which make this shop worth visiting; the have a brilliant home made brew (mea cupla), almost always Westvleteren (blonde, 8 and 12) and some very interesting vintage beers (mainly Chimay). The drawback is that this is all very expensive. All westvleteren beers are 12 euro (approx 18 dollars), in the city center one can find them cheaper. The vintage beers are also overpriced. The regular beers are still two (sometimes even 3) times more expensive than any supermarket in Brussels (where they also sell all trappist beers, except westvleteren....) or any Dutch liquor shop. Service is good, if you are around, why not pay it a visit...

I was at Beer Mania in June as a group of us ventured there after a guide books recommendation that they shipped beer.

Immediatley we were disappointed they charged 200 Euro to just ship the beer, in addition to the 30 we must purchase to qualify. Right away we decided we were't buying $500 worth of beer. With the purchses we did get they were packed to put in our bags and we easlily got 6-10 beers each into the US.

The selection is great, pretty much anything you could want to find. They even had plenty of Westvletern. Additionally, they had Westvletern crates which we purchases for 12 euro and took back to the US which was pretty cool as well.

The biggest downside to price was the service. The only guy working spoke no English at all and was not very helpful in his recommendations, or lack there of.

If you are looking to bring some stuff back to the US that you can't find elsewhere go here, but otherwise skip it. We found Westy 12 a couple places cheaper anyway.

This is a cool place. A little bit of a journey to find but luckily my better half is good with a map and we were able to get here after a long walk from the Cantillion brewery.

A--Fine, nice tasting area where you can try any beer they have available for take out.

Q--beers were fresh.

S--Nasser was neither grumpy or rude. In fact, he took a few minutes to discuss his Iranian roots and told the story of brewing beer in Iran during the time of the Revolution in 1979. I appreciated his candid talk and it was very interesting. We are lucky in America.

S--Selection was solid but not spectacular. The big, big plus which did the trick was aged Chimay that went as far back as 1992. Had the 95 and 97, tasty. Also had a 05 Orval which made me understand why the beer needs to age to be good, what a difference.

Cool place, worth a trip if you have the time.
