This one a gift from my good friend and Phytogen cotton seed representative Marvin Stewart.
Pours an almost clear brown with a red tinge. Very minor effervescence rises from the bottom. The pour produces little more than a strong finger of frothy, khaki, rapidly diminishing head that leaves little in the way of a surface cap, collar or lacing. Aroma is rich roasted malt, fresh cut pumpernickel, buttery biscuit, toffee, roasted nuts, raisin and thin chocolate. Taste is full and robust for the style: fronted by toasted pumpernickel, cocoa, roast and nuts with brown sugar and raisins at the mid-sip, it finishes thinly caramel in a watery cola sort of way with light playful hints of pepper, earth, floral and bitter. Aftertaste is bitter cocoa, burnt bread & caramel. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with moderate carbonation, smooth, slightly silky with a pleasant spice bite.

A very solid brown ale. Good choice if you are wanting a brown ale.

From a can at the REEB Ranch in NC.
Leans towards the rich end of the spectrum for style. Good malt complexity. Smooth medium+ body. Decent sweet-bitter balance.

Pours brown. Foamy, short, off white head fades fast to a faint ring.
Smells caramel and toasted malt, light earthy and nuttiness.
Tastes Caramel malt and a hint of earthy bitterness. Fading to a light roasted taste. Finish is dry with an earthy and nutty linger. Lighter medium body and fizzy medium carbonation.

This is a well-balanced Brown Ale that pours a nice mahogany color with good head retention. Caramel and roasted malts dominate the aroma and flavor, but there is a nice hint of hop bitterness on the finish. Not too malty sweet or bitter, I think this is one of the best brews Cabarrus has to offer.

Awesome. True to style English brown ale. Notes of chocolate, caramel, well balanced malty with noble hops shining through. Excellent beer.
