Tuned Up Brewing Co. "Dunkelweizen"
on tap at the brewery on 1 April 2017
Look: Clear reddish copper body beneath a short head of slightly off-white. Decent head retention and lacing.
Smell: Off aroma of phenolics like plastic. Caramel and almost burnt sugar.
Taste: The flavor follows with a semi-sharp apple-like fruitiness. Balanced bitterness.
Feel: Medium bodied with a moderate carbonation level that leaves it gently crisp and then smooth.
Overall: A good attempt at the style with a minor flaw. The fermentation temperature probably just got away. I'll look forward to trying this again.
