The appearance was a decent transparent sort of amber color with a cap of a little white foamy head that slid off at a moderate pace. Not much lace, just sliding into oblivion.
The aroma had some citrus and grassy hop playing with a cracker/bread malt backbone and then some light smoke hits for balance.
The flavor was sweet at first bringing in some light bitter citrus hoppiness and then the smoke came in subtly. Aftertaste was weird as it seemed to be the citrus and the smoke and didn't come across as blended as I had hoped for.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with a fair sessionability about it. Smoke seemed to cut back on the bitterness level to round out how it laid down on my tongue, felt pretty nice. Carbonation felt good. ABV felt appropriate.
Overall, well, don't ask me if it was American or English, just go with what BA says since there's no such style as "smoked IPA" by BJCP standards. Decent to me, but well, not exactly sure what to think with this one.

On tap at the brewery on September 24, 2016.
The pour is medium amber with a moderate head that lingers for a little while.
I pick up a full citrus and pine hop character with a little bit of smoke as promised. White bread too. No alcohol.
Smooth medium body.
The taste emanates the citrus hoppy characters I expected with a clean lingering finish. Not as smoky in the flavor but still quite decent.
