Appearance - Pours dark, near black with cola brown edging. Tan and rocky near two-finger width head that peels back in fairly quickly to reveal a mostly barren surface and a broken ring of suds around the edge of the surface. A few lines and some small spotting make up the lace.
Smell - Chocolate with a hint of cola-like sweetness. Mild cream. Distant roast. Hints of cinnamon develop as the brew warms.
Taste - Mild chocolate, cream and cinnamon. Hint of roast. Decent flavor profile, but presented with a flat, boring delivery. Finishes much the same.
Mouthfeel - Perhaps the reason for the tepid flavor profile. Medium-bodied with very low, slightly tingly carbonation. Flat throughout with a slightly dry finish.
Overall - Decent flavor but a flat delivery. After trying a few of their canned releases, all being mostly dead on the mouth, I can say they either need to refine their canning process or it's a place not worth visiting if I ever find myself in Elk Grove.
