You may remember the t-shirts that read: "My [family member] visited [XYZ location/locale] & all I got was this stupid t-shirt!" I mention this because my local, in-person trader, @tone77 visited Sri Lanka (!) & I got a buncha beers to add to The CANQuest (tm). He was not a big fan of them, but The CANQuest (tm) always tries to keep an open mind. All CANned beers are welcomed & they must be CANpletely CANsumed in order to be counted. No drain pours, half-measures or other happy hijinx are acceptable. This is serious business! Hey, quit laughing!
From the CAN: "Extra Strong Beer"; "Limited Edition". As to the latter, we CAN only hope so.
I hit an initial glitch in that there was no approved pic in place as I prepared to drink this gem. 8=( How did it make into my fridge?!? I must have been drunk! Grr. Problem solved, moving on. A Crack! of the old-skool tab atop the vent & I was off & running. It foamed up nicely to form two-plus fingers of dense. foamy, rocky, butterscotch-colored head with great retention. Color was solid Amber (SRM = > 7, < 9) with NE-quality clarity. Nose smelled of green apples, Band-Aids & metal shavings. 8=P @tone77 may have hit the nail on the head with this one. 8=p Mouthfeel was medium. The taste was straight-up unripe green apples, like a Jolly Rancher! 8=p Acetaldehyde to the MAX. 8=p This, in a CANmecially made beer? Oof. Man, no wonder @tone77 didn't dig it. I suppose that I should be thankful that it was not unfit for human CANsumption, ala Minhas' beers, but when it set off my asthma, it lost me. This was awful. It was poorly made & clearly rushed through production. The CANbination of little green apples & metal shavings was definitely NOT doing it for me. Finish was dry, probably as the result of some super yeast strain used to amp up the ABV. I may need to lay down after this. Oof. YMMV. Sheesh.

I am continuing my travels south, and am in the beautiful city of Galle. This can lists the ingredients on it. Water, malted barley, sugar (?), hops (yeah, right), and other adjuncts (wtf?).
Poured from a 16.9 oz. can. Has a dark golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is mild, some "other adjuncts". Taste is grains, metal, light green apples, alcohol. Feels medium/light bodied in the mouth and overall, not as bad as most beers I have had in this country, but still is a "Sri Lankan Yuck Lager".

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
