Vetter Alt Heidelberger Brauhaus “Frisch”
€3,60/,3L at the brewery on 22 September 2021
Notes: Although this is listed as an altbier it’s not a Düsseldorfer alt. It is, however, a golden German ale with a starting gravity of 11.5˚Plato.
Look: Hazy deep-gold body beneath a full head of white foam. The head retention and lacing are both very good.
Smell: Sweetish malt with a touch of apple, some floral and herbal hops, and a flicker of yeasty sulphur.
Taste: Sweetish and bready malt that’s balanced by floral and herbal hops and a median bitterness. Short lingering, mostly dry finish.
Feel: Medium bodied and crisp.
Overall: Pleasant and easy to drink.

On tap at the brewery in Heidelberg. Looks delicious like all beer. Bready nose and taste with a little lemon. Smooth fairly full mouthfeel. Solid beer.

Enjoyed in a Glass Stein by Litre at the Heidelberg Brauhaus. This was my second Litre of the night.
Appearance- A dark golden color, very cloudy, and half a finger of head.
Smell- An extreme amount of malt and a citrus fruit behind it. Not so great.
Taste- It tastes as if an orange was put in the bottom through the pour. Tastes like a wheat ale beer when it came down to it though.
Mouthfeel- A very smooth, medium bodied beer with no wild attributes. Very normal for a Frisch.
Drinkability- Now this beer can be enjoyed by the Litre! While traveling through Austria and Germany, this Frisch was very normal to my taste buds.
