Poured from the Vetter taps by the Alt brucke the beer is dark yellow with good carbonation. The head is a big bubbled 2 fingers, thick and white, it leaves little lace.

The smell is mild sweet, olives, peach, white bread and lemon rind.

The taste is delicious, a wonderful peppery heavy white bread malt, with complex flavors of peach, olives and bitter citrus rind. By design or blind chance this brew is a hit with me. The bitter hoppy finish well balances the sweet fruity malt.

The mouthfeel is thick and bold earning is a true German Bock status. The carbonation is full and cleansing clearing the palate.

The drinkability is great I could sit and swill this all night, in fact I did. prosit. MK

Sweet and strong malty amber beer.

Nice amber color in the glass but not much head. Served in a handled straight-sided stein with fluted sides. Little carbonation in the mouth. Even at 6.5% tastes of alcohol. Fruity and yeasty like a Belgian strong blonde. The oddity is a kind of gummy taste, like fruit flavored chewing gum. Modest touch of hops. Malt and plenty of it is the dominate feature.

Worth a taste if you're in the mood for a stronger than average German beer. I would not want a half litre of it, though, unless you're working on a plate of ribs or pork hocks.
