Well known for their quality of food and beers. Huge spirit and liquer selection. Very spacy property with a Mosel-Charme. Even better wine selection with Mosel wines

It's a bit far off the beaten tourist path, on the Olwigerstrasse that houses a lot of wineries and hotels, right next to the Reislingstrasse. Our hotel was right up the street, and we reserved a late dinner so we took a walk to check out more wineries and stumbled upon this place by sheer luck. It's in a hotel/restaurant complex.
It's fairly new, especially by european standards, it's only been open since 1998. The brewpub is in a corner, with a small bar and a few high tables, the brass kettles were in plain view in fornt of the window. They dropped down a screen and a few locals in their 20s were watching a soccer game. There was a screen mesh ceiling with hop bags, mugs and bottles hung all over the place. Behind the bar, 3 round glass fermentors with tiny brass taps filled with homemade hooch. Certainly not something you see often in North America.
The waiter seemed more intrested in the game than serving us, but we eventually got our orders in. 3 Beers on tap, a Helles, a Weizen and a Dunkle, served in 0.3L mugs. I enjoyed the latter of the three, and took a liter of Weizen to go (dirt cheap!) that I also liked a lot.
Trier is definately wine country, and it was probably one of our favorite stops in Germany. The fact that we found this place, and that the Beers were pretty good, only made the day even better.
