From tasting notes 08/18/17, had on-tap at Claimstake Brewing in Rancho Cordova, CA
Appearance - Served up in a pint, slight haze and golden orange in color. Thin, white layer of suds sits atop. Lacing is strong, decorating the sides with broken sheeting, webbing and small spots.
Smell - Citrusy and piney with light peach and guava. Hints of earth and floral hop character. Sweet, simple bready malt sitting beneath.
Taste - Follows the nose. Sweet orange and dank pine dominate upfront with lesser peach and a hint of pineapple. Faint 'white bread' sweetness provides a very basic malt undertone. Big stonefruit pit nuttiness hits mid-taste and strengthens in the finish, providing a bitter finish that can be found alongside grapefruit pith.
Mouthfeel - Medium-bodied with moderate carbonation. Slick texture turns crisp and dry in the finish.
Overall - Solid IPA. More Classic West Coast style than tropical, though, especially with its dry and dank bite. Congrats to CapTap and its 5 years of serving us thirsty bastards!
