From a 32oz crowler filled today.
Appearance - Pours near black with cola brown edging. Tan, near finger width head that displays fair retention before rolling back to a thin, broken layer of suds and a thin ring around the edge of the glass. Lacing is spotty.
Smell - Cocoa aroma, much like a tootsie roll, with a hint of roast, faint vanilla and cream.
Taste - Follows the nose. Notes of milk and and baker's chocolate upfront with some bitter roast creeping in by mid-taste. A vague touch of cream. Finish is bittersweet, with roastiness and chocolate seesawing as the flavor slowly fades.
Mouthfeel - Medium-bodied with moderate carbonation. Smooth, creamy texture with a slightly dry finish.
Overall - Pretty damn good. Reminds me (a lot) of the Rogue Chocolate Stout. Certainly a beer I'd drink on occasion if/when they choose to bring it back again.
