From 03/30/18 tasting notes
Had on-tap@ Claimstake Brewing Co. in Rancho Cordova, CA
Appearance - Served up in a 16oz pint, cloudy and salmon pink in color with a broken ring of suds around the edge of the glass. Fair amount of lacing with broken lines and lots of spotting.
Smell - The aroma is fruity and tart with notes of berry, lemon, orange and a hint of rhubarb.
Taste - Follows the nose. Simple, but tart and sweet with lemon, orange and berry. A touch of rhubarb character sneaks in by mid-taste. Finishes much the same as it begins, with lingering lemon character in the aftertaste.
Mouthfeel - Light in body with moderate, tingly carbonation. Slick texture with a sharp, slightly dry finish.
Overall - Pretty tasty kettle sour. It seems many of Claimstake's sours have a signature hint of rhubarb to them. I like it. Makes me wonder if it's the yeast they're using or something they're doing during the brewing process which causes it.
