Has on-tap at Claimstake Brewing in Rancho Cordova, CA
Appearance - Served up in a 13oz snifter, dark auburn brown and a thin ring encircling the edge of the glass. Fair amount of lacing, with streaks and spotting making up the bulk if it.
Smell - Chocolate and cherry upfront with lesser roast character.
Taste - Follows the nose. Chocolatey 'tootsie roll' flavor with a splash of tart and juicy cherry flavor. Mild roast creeps in mid-taste, then a faint spicy heat; blink and you'll miss it. Finish lingers with sweet chocolate, faint cherry and distant roasty bitterness.
Mouthfeel - Full-bodied with light, tingly carbonation. Creamy texture with a smooth, slightly dry finish. 11% drinks like 7%.
Overall - A solid impy overall. I was hoping for a bit more spice, but its a pretty unique offering, so hard to complain.
