Had on-tap at Claimstake Brewing in Rancho Cordova, CA
Appearance - Served up in a 13oz snifter, black with cola brown edging; mostly barren surface with a razor thin ring around the edge of the glass. A broken line or two with a handful of small spots make up the lacing.
Smell - Chocolatey and roasty with some underlying earthiness.
Taste - Follows the nose. Balanced character that hits on notes of dark chocolate, milk chocolate, roasted malt and some earthy hop character. Light dank found sitting beneath in the finish.
Mouthfeel - On the lighter side of full-bodied with fair, tingly carbonation. Slick, slightly creamy texture that drinks easy before a semi-dry finish.
Overall - Really solid, nice drinking chocolate stout. Not as 'dessert beer' as I thought it'd be, as Mikey Likes It was, but maybe that's a good thing.
