Had on-tap at Claimstake Brewing in Rancho Cordova, CA
A - Served in 13oz snifter, Crystal clear and bright yellow gold with a white island of suds in the center and a thick ring around the edge of the glass. A few broken lines make up the lacing.
S - Fair aroma hints at lemon, tangerine and slight cattiness.
T - Follows the nose. Light, bright and citrusy upfront and fades to the finish. Faint cake bready undertone. Almost a lemon cake finish.
M - light in body with a good amount of tongue tingling carbonation. Crisp, dry and refreshing finish.
O - Hmm. Good for what it is, but this is my 2nd 'Brut IPA' and frankly Im not really understanding the style. I'm not even sure how they qualify as IPA because the IBUs are so low. Brut Blonde Ale seems more fitting, because calling it an IPA adds to the idea that this is hoppy, and it isn't. There's very little perceived bitterness, and the IBU's attest to that. This isn't on Claimstake though, so I digress. Whatever you wanna call it, it would make for a solid summer seasonal for breweries going forward.
