Had on tap at Claimstake brewing in Rancho Cordova, CA
Appearance - Served up in a pint, black with cola brown edging and a thin, consistent layer of suds on the surface. Decent amount of lacing, with some broken webbing, blotches and spotting.
SmellĀ - Roasty malt and lesser chocolate with a bit of citrus hoppiness.
Taste - Follows the nose. Roasty and slightly chocolatey before some citrus pith hop bitterness kicks in. Finish lingers with citrus pith and some coffee-like earthiness.
Mouthfeel - Light-to-medium in body with fair carbonation. Slick at first, quickly turns to a dry, crisp finish.
Overall - I dig it! Its like a great, full flavored Black IPA with a crisp and easy finish. This blows other 'bruts' out of the water, IMO.
