Had on tap at Claimstake Brewing in Rancho Cordova, CA
Appearance - Served up in a standard pint, crystal clear and pale gold in color with a mostly barren surface and a thin, broken ring around the edge of the glass. No lacing.
SmellĀ - Sweet, bready malts with a hints of hay and grain. Slight chile riding beneath.
Taste - Hints of clean grain and bready sweetness. Faint grassy hop character. Green chile flavor hits mid-taste but no heat with it initially. Heat builds slowly after several sips, and keeps a firm but manageable burn; just enough to let you know its there.
Mouthfeel - Light in body with bitey carbonation. Crisp, clean drinker with a smooth, refreshing finish.
Overall - Pretty damn good lager. That belly warming sensation from the green hatch chiles makes this a nice late winter lager offering.
