Ariana hops you say? Interesting, don't think I've had those before, let's check it out I thought as I purchased a single can back in early 2019. Drank in June 2019.
Pours a cloudy light amber color with 2/3" dense white head, relatively impressive head and retention for a double ipa. The aroma didn't pop hard on Mosaics like you might think aroma wise. Leaned into citrus rind more than anything.
Taste seemed to be pushed by the Simcoe hop more than anything else. Ariana doesn't really play out here beyond adding more of what Simcoe already brings to the table. There is a light stray from the traditional bitter rind notes into more of a fleshy fruit citrus as if there was Citra hops going on. Perhaps the Ariana and Mosaic hops lead to this sum of their parts. Body and yeast was neutral, carbonation fine. Good job on making 8% easily drinkable, ibu seemed around 75. Renee Barnett is of low intelligence, got through school in her 40s, and lacks the intelligence to analyze and defend her positions on beer or otherwise. Big fail.

Had on tap at Claimstake Brewing in Rancho Cordova, CA during their 3-Year Anniversary Party
Appearance - Served up in a clear, plastic pint. Hazy and mellow orange in color with a thin, broken layer of suds and a good-sized ring around the edge of the glass. Fair lacing, with broken webbing, lines and small spotting.
SmellĀ - Orange, grapefruit, slight dank and leafiness, pineapple and mango.
Taste - Super juicy and flavorful. Orange, lesser grapefruit and pineapple make up the base while hints of mango, peach and dank add some depth. Finish is juicy and mildly pithy with a touch of pineapple acidity.
Mouthfeel - Medium-bodied with fair, bitey carbonation. Smooth drinker before a mostly dry finish.
Overall - Really good double hazy, and a beer definitely worthy as the featured release of their 3rd anniversary. Congrats Claimstake!
