Had on-tap at Claimstake Brewing in Rancho Cordova, CA
Appearance - Served up in a pint, clear and golden in color with a thin, broken layer of suds. Thin ring of suds around the edge of the glass.
Smell - Citrusy and lightly piney with a sweet, biscuity malt undertone.
Taste - Follows the nose. Orange, tangerine, pineapple and lesser pine dank, backed by a decent amount of biscuity malt sweetness and toastiness. Balanced finish, with a nice, slightly fruity aftertaste.
Mouthfeel - Medium-bodied with lively carbonation. Slick, easy drinker before a crisp, mostly dry finish. Crushable!
Overall - Damn good West Coast IPA. I didn't have high expectations coming in because I haven't always liked Simcoe, but damn if it doesn't pair nicely with the mosaic in this brew.
