Had on-tap at Claimstake Brewing in Rancho Cordova, CA
Appearance - Served up in a pint, slight haze and golden yellow in color with a thin, broken layer of suds. Not much for lacing. A broken line or two and a few small spots.
Smell - Fair amount of fruitiness; peach, grapefruit and lesser orange. Hint of earthy pine.
Taste - Follows the nose. Mild peach, orange and lesser grapefruit. Fair caramel malt undertone. Finish adds a touch of earth and dank which helps curb the sweetness.
Mouthfeel - Medium in body with fair carbonation. Slick, easy drinker before a crisp, mostly dry finish.
Overall - Simcoe heavy IPAs usually don't work for me. On the rare occasion I'll find one I really like. This is one of those rare occasions. Well done.
